Julie-Ann Gray is the first of many women whose weight loss success stories we’ll be sharing with you on this blog. After nine months of working out at the Lucille Roberts Valley Stream location, Julie has lost 20 lb. Read on to find out how she did it!
LR: What made you decide to start working out at Lucille Roberts?
JG: I am asthmatic, and being overweight makes it hard to breathe. I decided to make a change in my life.
LR: Which classes are your favorites?
JG: Mega Mix, taught by Michelle, is my favorite. I give that class two thumbs up! I never miss it. I also enjoy HIIT with Christine R., Kick Some Abs with Michelle, Tummy Tuck and Butt Lift taught by Cindy, Yoga with Damita or Leslie, and Zumba with Andrea.
LR: What’s your weekly workout routine?
JG: I attend the gym four days a week after work. I mix my routine so as to not let my body get used to a particular workout. I may start out with the treadmill or elliptical and then go to a class, or vice versa.
LR: How have you changed your diet to help you lose weight?
JG: I did the three-month Live Rite Weight Loss Program with Leslie Taylor—she is amazing! This particular way of eating has now become a part of my life: I am conscious of almost everything I am about to eat.
LR: What’s the hardest part of losing weight? How do you stay motivated to keep going?
JG: Not having the energy is the hardest part. After a tiresome day at work, it’s hard to do a full workout. I just keep saying to myself that I have to do this is for me, but the best motivation is fitting back into my size 10 skinny jeans!
LR: How do you feel now compared with how you felt when you first started working out?
JG: Oh my goodness, I am on top of the world! I am happier and have a whole lot more energy. I can’t even explain in words. It’s just a great a feeling, and I love it!
LR: What words of encouragement or advice would you offer to other Lucille Roberts ladies who are trying to get in shape?
JG: We are beautiful inside and out, but if we don’t take care of this beauty, then there are going to be problems. It isn’t easy, but we ladies have to take time out for ourselves. We give so much to the world, being wives, moms, nurses, teachers, etc. Time for ourselves is a requirement, and exercise is definitely a part of this requirement. Even when you don’t want to work out, get up and go!
I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica. I love listening to music, dancing, reading, and laughing. Yes, I laugh a lot! I have a very vibrant personality, and I love to work out. I have no kids as yet, but my family means the world to me.
