Trainer Tip: LiveRite Whey Protein Shakes for Fat Loss–and More!
Our LiveRite protein shakes are made of whey protein, and our exclusive formula is absolutely delicious! The benefits of whey protein don’t just stop at fat burning; our shakes offer a multitude of health benefits. Perhaps the question to ask is…what DON’T they do?
Vitamins and Enzymes
To begin with, our whey shakes are fortified with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. They contain vitamin C and B vitamins which will help you metabolize the calories into energy rather than stored fat. The shake’s papain and bromelain enzymes content help to reduce inflammation and muscle soreness. These enzymes also help with the breakdown and digestion of calories consumed. Our LiveRite whey protein shakes also contain lipase, which helps specifically with the breakdown of fats. Our shakes are fortified with additional vitamin E, shown to improve heart, brain, and breast health and to improve circulation and respiratory fitness.
Our shakes are chock full of essential and nonessential amino acids, which really stoke your fat-burning furnace—and a whole lot more! Whey protein is considered to be the fastest-digesting protein available and is a “complete” protein, meaning it contains all of the essential amino acids—and some nonessential ones, too. Whey protein is a rich source of BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids), which are particularly effective for improving insulin sensitivity and increasing a feeling of satiety and fullness. Researchers from the University of Connecticut also found that whey protein acted as a vasodilator, meaning it increases the flow of blood to the muscles. In other words, the amino acids contained in the whey protein are getting to where they need to go, more quickly and more efficiently! That means they also will do their jobs more quickly and more efficiently. Our shakes contain tyrosine, an amino acid which has been shown to increase the level of “will to win” hormones, such as epinephrine and norepenephrine, which has receptor sites in the abdominal region. This means you will train harder and reap better results! The leucine content of our shakes stimulates the actual sculpting or toning of your muscles, known as protein synthesis. In one 12-week study, leucine also helped test subjects recover faster from fatigue.
So, what exactly does why protein do for your weight loss diet? Well, for starters, just last month, the August edition of Nutrition Research reported that whey protein can help reduce belly fat! The fact that whey helps control excess insulin secretion and appetite are huge forces governing overall calorie consumption and decreasing fat storage. Other studies have shown that whey protein significantly reduces ghrelin and lowers cortisol levels. Ghrelin causes raging hunger, and cortisol can directly impact fat storage in the abdominal area. A study released in Nutrition & Metabolism demonstrated that even when calorie consumption was the same, those ingesting more whey percentages as part of a healthy meal plan lost more weight and more body fat. Perhaps the most striking of all the research I have read to date concerning whey protein and body fat loss was in the August issue of Nutrition Research, which indicated that whey protein reduced both belly and leg fat! When you mix it with low-fat or fat-free milk, you really up your fat burning potential, as milk is another complete protein. Milk’s ability to control calcitrol, your fat-storing hormone, gives this combo a fat-blasting punch!
As if that isn’t enough, whey protein has been proven to strengthen antioxidant defenses, which in turn strengthen the immune system, reducing the risk of premature aging and helping against DNA breakdown! A recent study out of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center showed that whey protein may be helpful for the prevention of metabolic disorders; its ability to improve insulin sensitivity may help prevent Type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease (Journal of Nutrition, 2011). A 12-week study published in British Journal of Nutrition in 2010 showed that whey protein even lowered triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol. Last but certainly not least, whey protein promotes thermogenesis—that is, increased caloric expenditure at rest (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2011). WOW!

I have been drinking the vanilla shake for about 6 days have not lost one pound. I add banana in morning and blueberrie in after noon and eat chicken or fish with a veg. for dinner and have not lost anything. Can u tell me why
Hi Jackie – First of all, you need to be patient. Safe weight loss for women is about 1-2 lb. per week, so you also need to have reasonable expectations. Also bear in mind that at “that time of the month”, you’re likely to weigh about 5 lb. more due to water weight, which your body will naturally shed during that week. Second, are you working out? It’s great that you’re drinking the LiveRite shakes and eating a healthy dinner, but you need to work out 3-4 times per week in addition to that in order to see results. If you’re already working out several times a week and aren’t losing weight, make sure you talk to your doctor to see whether you have any medical conditions (like thyroid problems) that might be affecting your weight loss. (Really everyone should do this before starting a diet and/or new workout routine.) Finally, if your doctor says you’re healthy, consider working with a personal trainer who will tailor your workouts to meet your specific needs and who can also offer nutritional coaching. Best of luck!
can you please tell me how much i should be using to make this shake ? it says 7oz of water but that doesnt even fill a cup hlw is that filling / PLus the girl who sold it to me at Lucille had no idea what she was talking about and was no help!
Hi Alyson,
The best way to prepare the shake is to follow some of the great recipes we have here on the blog. Usually this involves blending with 4-6 ice cubes, 10-12 oz. of fat-free milk, and fruit or other ingredients. Here’s a link to all the recipes we’ve posted so far: http://www.lucilleroberts.com/blog/http:/www.lucilleroberts.com/blog/category/live-rite-shake/ These are meal-replacement recipes. If you want to use the shake as just a snack, then you can mix it with just 10-12 oz. of water or milk; using a blender works best. Depending on your weight loss goals, you can substitute up to two meals per day with one of the meal-replacement shake recipes, like the ones here on the blog. If you have more questions, let us know!
I love this protein shake, i work out 3-4 times a week and this shake is such a great recovery for the muslces im working. Rather than getting that soar feeling. Im loosing weight but more importantly for my body and my goals im toning up great, just in time for summer. I add berries to this shake for extra antioxidants. No complaints here just great results. You have to work out for this shake to help reach your goals.
Thanks Lucille Roberts & Live Rite!
