Truth be told wearing makeup to the gym is simply a bad idea. The combination of dirt,  sweat and makeup clogs the pores and results in the big tomato- like creatures forming on the surface of the skin. But we don’t have to see makeup as the enemy, it is actually can be one of our close friends.

When we are suffering from a “bad” day, when everything seems to be wrong with our appearance (under eye bags, huge zits, oily skin) we turn to makeup (the magic fairy) to make those flaws temporarily disappear. The reality is that when we see ourselves as “confident and beautiful” we get the motivation and zeal to go out into the world and conquer, including going to the gym.

Use these 3 beauty products to keep your skin healthy and help you have a positive attitude as you embark on your daily routine!

Just for Fun: How to Make Your Eye Color Pop for the Holidays

December 22, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Holiday parties are a fun time to get dressed up, and of course make-up is one of the best parts! We have some tips for making your natural eye color stand out, so your eyes will look especially alluring under the mistletoe (wink, wink).

For brown eyes: Use warm tones to enhance your natural color. To create a dramatic contrast against the color of the pupil and the whiteness of the eye, line the waterline of the eyes with eyeliner. Here is how:

For blue eyes: To make blue eyes stand out, use warm bronze tones.

For green eyes: Use a warm, pink, or rose tone on the crease and underneath the eye. A great option is Neutrogena‘s Nourishing Eye Duo in Fairy Dust eye shadow.

Or, go “au naturel”: Need to make your eyes stand out without looking heavily made-up? By using eyeliner and/or a little bit of mascara, you can instantly perk up tired eyes without using even a speck of eye shadow.

After the Gym: Fall Makeup Trends

With fall around the corner. Women tend to change their makeup palettes with each season. One of the biggest changes women make are their lipstick shades. This fall’s sexiest color of the season is (drum roll) WINE RED!

How to pick the shade of red that works best for your skin tone:

  • Women with fair skin should go with a blue based red or a coral red.
  • Olive or medium skin will look best with a flashy bright red or berry red.
  • Dark skin tones should look for darker brick reds or burgundy wine colors.

Remember to always keep your eyes neutral with a red lip. You want ONE feature to be the focal point of your look. It’s usually either eyes or lips. Not both.

You can always make the color even sexier by adding a smear of clear lip gloss to the middle of the bottom lip to create a fuller lip.

After you’ve spent time in the gym working on getting a fabulous body, you probably want to go out and enjoy looking fabulous! Here’s a fun “after the gym” makeup tip for sexy, smoky eyes!

The key to the perfect smoky eye is proper blending. You want to make sure the colors are blended together flawlessly. Also, it’s important to pair light base colors with rich dark colors. Nice mixes include: soft gold base with deep purple on top, champagne base with bright blue, and peach base with green hue.
