It’s no secret that when we decide to lose weight, we want to lose it FAST! But most diets aren’t healthy, especially when they require you to starve yourself or deprive your body of nutrients that it desperately needs to function. Diets where you take in too few calories can actually slow down your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight!
This Dr. Oz approved 7-day crash diet from weight-loss guru Dr. Joel Fuhrman, says it will get you on the fast track to dropping pounds in just one week feasting on nutrient-dense foods – rich in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants – that are low in calories. Here are three steps for anyone who wants to be thinner in one week!
Step 1: Follow the 90/10 Rule Every Day
For the next 7 days, you’ll eat 90% nutrient-dense foods – veggies, fruits, seeds and nuts, beans and whole grains. For the remaining 10%, you can have healthy oils, meat and dairy.
Eggs are often a great first meal, but not on this diet. Many people eat too much protein and that results in high calorie consumption and weight gain. You should only be eating light and lean foods like fruit, oats and flax. Yogurt is also a no go. You can get calcium from natural unprocessed foods like fruits and vegetables.
- Belly-Blasting Bean Lunch
If you’re on this diet, beans are you best friend. They keep you full, reduce blood sugar and are high in resistant starch, meaning that half the calories consumed can not be absorbed.
- Lean Green Skinny Supper
You don’t have to eat salads, salads and more salads. You can add greens and vegetables to your dinner by eating dishes like veggie pizza and veggie stir-fry
Dr. Fuhrman recommends eating “BOM’s” to really kick your body’s fat-burning mechanisms into high gear. BOM’s are Berries, Onions and Mushrooms. These foods are anti-angiogenic and can starve fat cells by cutting off the blood supply to your fat. The more of these foods you eat, the more weight you’ll lose.
Step 3: Detox With Skinny Shakes
To flush fat from your body, you’ll need to release the toxins that are keeping you swollen with fat and fluid. To repair cellular damage from processed foods, make a Skinny Shake of pomegranate juice, strawberries and lemon. Pomegranates are anti-angiogenic and can reduce inflammation. Strawberries are anti-angiogenic and protect against oxidative stress. And lemon juice has vitamin C, natural antibacterial properties, can aid digestion, and helps reduce stress.
